Wal-Mart De Mexico to Open 205 Units

Discount retailer Wal-Mart de Mexico SAB is opening 205 new stores and restaurants in Mexico this year, the Associated Press reported. These new locations, planned by Walmex, will increase its total installed capacity by 12.6 percent.

At the end of 2007, Walmex had 1,023 stores and restaurants in the country and the 2008 plans include 17 Wal-Mart Supercenters, 79 Bodega Aurrera stores and 30 VIPs restaurants. The AP reported that Walmex CEO Eduardo Solorzano told analysts the plans also include developing the "Mi Bodega Express" format.
