President Bush recently signed the Military Reservist and Veteran Small Business Reauthorization and Opportunity Act, which will expand small-business opportunities for veterans, Inc.com reported. The legislation, which was introduced by Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), will create a taskforce that will help veteran small-business owners with procurement, franchising and access to capital.

The legislation will also establish a grant program that will boost outreach to the veteran community through Small Business Development Centers, according to Inc.com. There will also be a permanent advisory committee on business affairs for veterans. According to Kerry, the new bill will provide help for 24 million veterans and 1.1 million reservists.
